Getting set up

How does this actually work?

It uses conditional call forwarding, the same feature your phone already has. Your phone rings normally for every call. Only the calls you don't pick up get sent to your AI voicemail. You enter one or more forwarding codes on your dial pad once, and that's it.

Which carriers does it work with?

Most US and Canadian carriers: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Rogers, Telus, Freedom Mobile, Cricket, Boost. A few carriers (Bell is the main one) only offer unconditional forwarding, which won't work. If you're not sure, call your carrier and ask: "do I have conditional call forwarding on my plan?"

What number does my phone forward to?

We provide one shared forwarding number per country: (507) 500-7747 in the US and (587) 200-0418 in Canada. Setup picks the one that matches your country, and because it's a normal in-country call, most carrier plans cover the forwarded leg under unlimited long distance. If you need a number with your specific area code, contact us — we can provision a dedicated one, with a processing fee to set it up.

Does it work with Apple Live Voicemail?

No. You'll need to disable Live Voicemail in Settings → Phone → Live Voicemail. After that, conditional forwarding works as expected.

Who it's for

Is this for personal or business use?

Both, on the right tier. Standard and Premium are for one person on a personal phone. Solopreneur is for one real solo operator using their own active business line — sole proprietors, freelancers, and solo professionals — and adds calendar booking so the AI can put appointments on your Cal.com during the call. It is not a shared answering service for a team, department, office, or multiple phone lines. For multi-person teams, voice agents that handle customer support, ordering, dispatch, directories, or phone-tree routing, TONNIC AI Agency builds those custom.

Can I customize the AI voicemail?

Yes. Choose the name your AI voicemail uses on the phone and pick its voice (male or female). The greeting includes your name and a short bit about why you're not picking up. You can update both anytime.

Can I use Solopreneur as an answering service?

No. Solopreneur is for replacing voicemail on one active line used by one solo individual. It is fine for a real sole proprietor, freelancer, or solo professional whose own phone rings first. It is not for shared business lines, teams, pooled numbers, customer support queues, dispatch desks, call centers, or forwarding multiple people into one account.

Privacy and trust

Do you store my calls?

Your message is delivered to you by email and text — we don't archive it to your account afterward. When you sign in there's no message history to browse, and our staff have no console that surfaces what was said. The only per-call data we keep is anonymized, non-content metadata: a scam-risk score and four flags about how the call ended (emergency detected, voicemail left, call transferred, callback offered). The recording and transcript live briefly with the providers that generate and deliver them — the recording auto-deletes within 30 days — and are never used to train AI or sold. What about scam calls?

The AI scores every call for known scam patterns, urgency tactics, and fraudulent claims. High-risk calls are flagged in your notification with a clear warning, and we'll never call you back on something that looks like a scam.

What about emergencies?

If the AI detects emergency language ('emergency', 'hospital', '911', etc.), it ends the call and rings you back immediately. If you don't pick up the callback, you get an SMS alert. The full transcript is in your inbox seconds later either way.

Plans and cancellation

What's the difference between Standard and Premium?

Standard handles every call, sends you email summaries with full transcript and audio, does emergency callbacks, and includes scam detection. Premium adds SMS for every call (not just emergencies), removes the "Powered by Voicemail.work" line from the greeting, and gets you priority support.

Is there a fair-usage policy?

Yes. Fair usage applies to every plan and trial. Voicemail.work is priced for normal voicemail replacement on one individual phone line. If usage looks like an answering service, duplicate free trials, call-center traffic, shared business routing, call loops, or abnormal cost-generating behavior, we may review, limit, suspend, cancel, or ask you to move to a custom TONNIC AI Agency solution.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your account dashboard. You keep access until the end of your current billing cycle, then it stops renewing. After cancellation, disable call forwarding on your phone with another carrier code and the service is fully off.

Does it work outside the US and Canada?

Not yet. The service is optimized for US and Canadian phone numbers. International support is on the roadmap; we're not there yet.
